The BBC Synopsis of this program:

Part of Huw Wheldon's classic series, this programme features Ken Russell's 1962 portrait of the composer Sir Edward Elgar, detailing reconstructed events in his life and using dramatisation and visual music interpretations.

The programme was made for the 100th edition of the BBC's Monitor arts strand, narrated by Huw Wheldon, stars George McGrath and Peter Brett, and shows Ken Russell developing the style he was to use in his later films of the lives of composers - Tchaikovsky, in The Music Lovers (1969), Mahler (1974) and Liszt, Lisztomania (1975) [b&w]
