The BBC Synopsis of this program:

6/6. Catalin Dobrisan left his family in Romania to work as a taxi driver in Plymouth, but things aren't going to plan. Plus, the story of Famara Cessay, who survives on weekly welfare vouchers. 6/6.

Catalin Dobrisan left his family in Romania to work as a taxi driver in Plymouth, but things aren't going to plan. His wife and children haven't joined him and Catalin is discovering that the emotional price of being an economic migrant in the new Europe can be high.

Each year, about 20,000 people are refused asylum in the UK. Famara Cessay is one of them. He came to Britain from Gambia after a military coup but is forbidden from working here, so survives on weekly welfare vouchers.

Dr Mohamed Elshafie came to the UK from the Sudan to complete his medical training. He's allowed to work as a junior doctor, but now he wants permission to train here as a surgeon. [S]
