The BBC Synopsis of this program:

Capturing the sublime beauty of the English Lake District, this documentary traces the life of writer and artist Alfred Wainwright, the unlikely eccentric Lancastrian who created a series of iconic fell-walking books which he hand wrote, illustrated and published himself, 50 years ago.

Celebrating 100 years since his birth, this film captures his passionate love affair with the Lakeland landscape and explores how his books have become guide book classics for millions of fell-walkers, including Sue Lawley.
