The BBC Synopsis of this program:
A Very English Village
Filmmaker Luke Holland has lived in and filmed his village Ditchling on the East Sussex Downs for the last ten years. In this five part series Luke explores different aspects of village life, past and present.
In Looking for Mr Gill Luke Holland hopes to unearth and understand Eric Gill's Ditchling legacy. The controversial and maverick genius of the Arts and Crafts movement set up home on the High St in 1907. It was the start of an extraordinary adventure that helped shape the artistic character of the 20th century. But Gill's complex legacy has had a profound impact on the village where his morality and sexual proclivities remain a subject of heated controversy. Contributions from surviving members of the Arts and Crafts community Gill founded on Ditchling Common, who still live in the village, help our understanding of both the artist and the man.
